All Promises Made During Election Will Be Fulfilled: MLA Sopore

Date:

Land Rights of Fishermen to Be Prioritized

The Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) from the Sopore Constituency has expressed his unwavering commitment to fulfilling all the promises made during the election campaign.

While addressing a gathering of the fishermen community on the banks of Wular Lake in Zurimanz village, the MLA Sopore Irshad Rasool Kar highlighted that fishermen throughout the Sopore constituency—spanning from Mazbuk to Zurimanz and other areas—lack land documents. To address this issue, he assured the community that a special committee would be established to prioritize their needs, ensuring that the scheme providing 5 marlas of land for the homeless benefits deserving people of the fishermen community.

The MLA said that whenever government schemes are introduced for these fishermen, their implementation is often hindered due to the absence of land rights. He emphasized that once the fishermen secure their land documents, they will be able to fully benefit from all schemes.

He recognized the hard work and dedication of the fishing community, stating that they tirelessly labor throughout the night in adverse weather conditions to earn their livelihood. He emphasized the urgent need to address their issues.

The MLA assured the community that he would bring this matter to the attention of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, advocating for the fishermen’s land rights so they can establish stable lives and earn livelihoods with dignity.

MLA Sopore further said that all promises made by the National Conference during the elections aimed at the welfare and prosperity of the people will be upheld by the party, ensuring peace and development in Kashmir.

MLA Sopore was accompanying three other MLAs: Nizamuddin Bhat from Bandipora, Hilal Akbar Lone from Sonawari, and Irfan Hafeez from Wagoora-Kreeri, who were present in Zurimaz village at the invitation of the fishing community.
