Sopore, Mar 11 : Amid rains security forces launched a cordon and search operation in Seer area of Sopore in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Thursday evening.
Reports reaching Kashmir Despatch said a joint team of army’s 52 RR, SOG of J&K police and CRPF cordoned off Seer village of Sopore and conducted house to house searches there. They also sealed off all entry and exit points leading towards the village.
An army officer told Kashmir Despatch the operation was launched following inputs about the presence of militants in the area.
Searches were going on in the area when last reports came in.
Pertinently, Al-Badr chief Ganie Khawaja was killed in a gunfight that broke out on Tuesday evening in Tujjer village of Sopore, which Inspector General of Police Kashmir range, Vijay Kumar termed a major success and a big achievement to security forces.
