Bandipora : Army’s 26 Assam rifles organized cricket tournament for the youths of bandipora,youths from various villages participated in the tournament and thanked the Indian army for providing a platform to showcase their talent
The Indian Army on wednesday organized a cricket tournament in bandipora at watlab playground. Around 12 teams participated in the tournament from the villages of Bandipora district. The Indian army has been continuously taking initiatives to engage youth in the valley in different sports and cultural activities.
The tournament was inaugurated today by Dy commandant 26 Assam rifles Vasudan potty today at cricket ground watlab.First match was played between SSC Watlab Vs Ashtanga.
”It’s a great initiative by the Indian army to provide a platform for the youth to play sports. There are 12 teams and sports are as important as studies, there are so many youths involved in drugs these days and to keep them away, Sports plays a very important role. We should promote sports. ” said Inam, a local cricket player from Keheneusa.
The players while hailing the efforts of army towards sports said that hope more sports tournaments will be organized in future by army so that the local boys get opportunity to show their talent in sports.
