As Delhi Burns, Gurdwaras Offer Help & Give Shelter To Muslim Families Fleeing Violence

Date:

As North-East Delhi has been engulfed by communal riots since February 23, residents of the national capital worked hard to not fall prey to those dividing communities on religious lines reported IndiaTimes.

These, perhaps, are the worst riots, Delhi has witnessed in recent years with close to 20 people losing their lives and more than 150 being injured in clashes between anti and pro CAA groups, which soon took a communal colour.

Residents of Yamuna Vihar said they have never seen such violence and they have vowed to leave no stone unturned to defeat communal forces together.

Residents of the area drew away miscreants who had come to the market area and tried to create disturbance in the region reported IndiaTimes.

In such trying times, people are standing in unity against the dividing forces.

Many took to Twitter to share the heartwarming stories of people extending support to each other and offering help in whichever capacity they can.

A Twitter user said he has received warm details from riot-infested Delhi areas where one community is patrolling with their neighbours of another community to ensure that no one from the outside attacks homes of the minorities.
Novelist Nilanjana Roy also shared that she has come across news from one part of Delhi wherein a gurdwara has opened its door to anyone who needs shelter.

“Gurudwaras in North Delhi including in Majnoo ka Tila will look after people who need help tonight,” said a tweet.

There are several accounts on social media explaining how people are extending support to each other in this need of the hour.

She also shared that In Seelampur, Dalits blocked the roads against mobs and sheltered their neighbors belonging to another community reported IndiaTimes.
