Bandipora July 14: Fed up with the promises of NC,BJP and PDP border residents of Gurez valley stand with an independent candidate.
The people of border villages of Gureez constituency are showcasing an inclination towards independent candidates instead of candidates from other mainstream political parties.
Speaking to the Kashmir Despatch regarding upcoming elections in J&K, one of the local residents Mustafa from Tulail said that since independence the roads are the same as in 1947 as the locals haven’t seen any development here.
While assembly election dates are yet to be announced and the polls are expected to be held by the end of this year or early next year, the inclination towards independent candidates is considered as the first major move from Gurez constituency.
The locals alleged that the previously elected representatives, from recognized parties, always took them for a ride.
Recently, a local Bank Manager Nissar Ahmad resigned from his service and decided to contest the election as an independent candidate, from Gurez constituency.
“People tried every political party by supporting them wholeheartedly, but instead of addressing their issues, the politicians took the gullible public for granted,” the independent candidate Nissar Ahmad said.
