Srinagar, Feb 27 : The Department of Community Medicine, SKIMS Soura, in collaboration with RTO Kashmir and SACPPE, organized an awareness program on Substance Abuse at Govt. College of Education M.A Road, Srinagar.
The event began with Quranic recitation, followed by interactive sessions targeting the driver community.Dr Shamila Hamid Associate Professor Department of Community Medicine SKIMS Soura initiated the awareness programme by giving an overview about Substance abuse including tobacco use.Dr. Fahd Bukhari from SKIMS highlighted the harmful effects of drug abuse and its preventive measures by generating awareness among common masses.
Dr Humayun from the department of Psychiatry emphasised about the management options regarding substance abuse including services available to quit smoking and other substance abuse.Dr. Muneeb Shah and Dr. Mir Altaf Ahmad coordinated the program, while ARTO Enforcement Er. Mubashir Jan emphasized the role of drivers in promoting a drug-free society, stating that “Law and liberty are two sides of the same coin.”SHO kothi bagh also deliberated on the topic.
A felicitation ceremony honored participants, including media personalities, for their role in spreading awareness against the drug menace.IEC material related to the event was distributed among the audience and other participants.
