BANDIPORA, Feb 20: The inhabitants of Banyari  village of North Kashmir’s Bandipora district have accused the Jal Shakti Department for  failing to provide them with a tap water facility in their village.

Residents while talking to Kashmir Despatch, said that the villagers are  facing acute shortage of drinking water, poor drainage facility and dilapidated inner link roads in the area causing immense hardships among the residents.

“The area has been neglected by the Administration and political parties and nobody seems to be taking our issues seriously,” Mohammad Anwar.

“The residents are suffering badly as the local administrator is least bothered about the worst condition of the village which is putting our lives in trouble. The authorities forced us to drink filthy water from river Jhelum, and failed to provide portable drinking water to residents,” Mohammad Amin, a local resident said while speaking with Kashmir Despatch.

Locals appealed LG Manoj Sinha and district Administration Bandipora to look into the genuine grievances of these local peoples and resolve their issue as soon as possible.
