BARAMULLA, Aug 18: Terming the arrest of eight terrorist associates of the Lashkar-e-Taiba in Uri a significant victory for Jammu and Kashmir Police, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Baramulla on Friday said that busting such a terror module in the border district of Kashmir must have hit the nefarious designs of terrorist handlers based in Pakistan.
“The successful operation is the result of months of intelligence gathering and surveillance,” said Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Baramulla Amod Nagpure, while talking to Kashmir Despatch.
He said the arrested terrorist associates were on a mission to transport arms and ammunition to active terrorists, with the aim of carrying out targeted killings and other terror incidents in the region. “Busting of this network is expected to deal a major blow to the terror outfit’s plans and disrupt their activities in the area,” he added.
Speaking on the achievement, SSP Baramulla, said, “This is a big success for the J&K police. Our teams have been working relentlessly to identify and neutralize these terrorist associates. The weapons and ammunition seized from them could have caused immense harm to the people of J&K.”
The top police officer, while appealing to the parents to come forward whenever they feel any suspicious activity from any of their members, said people should contact the police and army so that necessary measures are taken well in advance to save the lives and property of the people.
