SRINAGAR, Dec 23: In a comprehensive two-day party bearer’s meeting in New Delhi, the central leadership of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) engaged in detailed discussions with leaders from the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir.

Notable attendees included BJP J&K UT President Ravinder Raina, Party’s General Secretary (Org) for J&K Ashok Kaul, and National Secretary Dr. Narinder Singh.

The primary focus of the meeting was the formulation of a strategic plan for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. Leaders delved into various aspects, including the current political scenario in J&K and the party’s overall strategy.

Sources within the BJP revealed that discussions also extended to the possibility of holding early Assembly elections in J&K, in compliance with directives from the Supreme Court.

Prominent leaders from the central party echelons and key Union Ministers participated in the office bearers meeting. Jammu and Kashmir BJP leaders, reflecting the diverse political landscape of the region, contributed valuable insights on governance, developmental projects, and effective political representation.

Insiders disclosed that the talks covered grassroots-level engagement, community development, and initiatives aligning the party’s agenda with the aspirations of Jammu and Kashmir residents. The BJP central leadership reiterated its commitment to peace, stability, and inclusive development in the region.

While specific details remained confidential, it became evident that the BJP is actively formulating a cohesive strategy, considering the evolving dynamics of Jammu and Kashmir.

The Supreme Court’s mandate for elections in the Union Territory by September of the following year added a sense of urgency to the discussions. Sources familiar with the proceedings stated that the BJP is consistently prepared for elections in the Union Territory.

However, the final decision on the timing of the elections, according to sources, rests with the Election Commission of India, the constitutional body responsible for conducting elections in the country.

The BJP’s engagement reflects a proactive approach to political developments, signaling the party’s readiness for democratic processes in Jammu and Kashmir. (KNS)
