Body of Teen Retrieved From Power Canal in Ganderbal

Ganderbal, 04 Apr: The body of a 17-year-old boy, who tragically drowned in the power canal at Haknar Fraw in Ganderbal, was recovered on Friday evening after a massive search and rescue operation.

The deceased has been identified as Junaid Ahmad Khan, son of Abdul Wahid, a resident of Gund Kangan.

Soon after the incident was reported, teams from the J&K Police, State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), and National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) swung into action and began an intensive search operation with the help of local volunteers.

An official confirmed to Kashmir Despatch that the body was retrieved after several hours of continuous efforts.

It will be subsequently handed over to the family after the completion of necessary medico-legal formalities.

The tragic incident has left the entire community in mourning.
