Bukhari urges LG to delay property tax imposition, says J&K govt itself is outsourced

Date:

SRINAGAR: Apni Party chief Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari on Monday appealed Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha to delay the imposition of property tax by a few years in view of the poor economic condition of the residents of Jammu and Kashmir.

“The government is doing a lot of things because they need to do a lot of things. But things which are not in favour of people, must not be done. I can only request the LG Manoj Sinha to delay the imposition of property tax by a few years. The economic condition of the residents of Jammu and Kashmir is not good,” he told reporters, after filing his nomination papers for the ensuing Presidential elections of the Apni Party.

Partinently, Bukhari is the founder president of the party which was established in March 2020. His present term as party president is ending on March 8.

“LG Saheb is right that even Rehriwalla’s pay tax. We will also pay but at least delay it for some time,” he said, adding that Apni Party was not trying to score political points on the issue.

On the proposed outsourcing of Royal Spring Golf Course in Srinagar, Bukhari said that outsourcing has become second nature of things in Jammu and Kashmir after 2018.

“Even the government of Jammu and Kashmir is outsourced,” he said.

The Jammu and Kashmir administration has started the process to outsource Royal Spring Golf Course in Srinagar on Public Private Partnership mode and other properties in various parts of the UT. Spread over an area of 300 acres, the Royal Springs Golf Course is known as one of the largest and most beautiful golf courses in Asia.
