Leh Administration launches market checking

Leh Apr 9: A team headed by Assistant Commissioner Revenue, Leh today conducted a surprise market checking of various vegetable shops /Kiryana shops at Skalzangling, Skara and Bus-stand areas.
He was accompanied by Assistant Commissioner, Food Safety, Leh; Assistant Director, FCS&CA, Leh; Executive Officer, MC, Leh and Station House Officer, Police Station, Leh.


During the market checking, it has been observed that many shopkeepers have not displayed the rate list at their shops. Also, some were selling expiry items.
The market checking team imposed a fine on 20 shops for selling expired items and not following the norms of properly displaying rate lists approved by the Administration.


A total fine of Rs 4000 was collected and strict warning was given to the defaulters from refraining from overcharging, hoarding essential commodities, selling rotten/sub-standard or expired materials also non-display of rate list, failing which action, as warranted under rules, shall be taken.
