Srinagar, July 31 : In a sustained effort to monitor the progress of smart city projects, Srinagar Municipal Corporation Commissioner Dr. Owais Ahmed, who is also the CEO of Smart City Projects continued his night vigil on Wednesday.
Focusing on crucial areas of the city, Dr. Owais inspected ongoing works at Jehangir Chowk, Balidan Stamp, Maharaja Bazar, Gojwara Road, Karanagar Market, and Gonikhan Market.
Accompanied by the Smart City team, the Commissioner meticulously assessed the progress of ongoing works.
During the inspection, Dr. Owais interacted with workers and project managers, emphasizing the need for diligence and dedication. “This relentless oversight is aimed at ensuring adherence to project timelines and maintaining the highest quality standards,” Dr. Owais Ahmad said.
He reiterated the administration’s commitment to a zero-tolerance policy for subpar materials and practices, stressing that this is essential for the vision of transforming Srinagar into a modern, citizen-centric city.
“Our focus remains on delivering projects that not only enhance the infrastructure but also improve the quality of life for all citizens,” he added.
Owais provided an update on the progress of the Balidan Stambh project, stating, “The work on the Balidan Stambh is in its final stages. Our workers have almost completed the technical tasks, and now we are focusing on the finishing touches. We aim to complete this within 10 to 15 days.”
He also highlighted the city’s commitment to environmental sustainability, announcing, “We are launching a massive plantation drive and promoting waste segregation to keep Srinagar beautiful.” This dual approach of infrastructure development and environmental conservation underscores the administration’s dedication to enhancing the city’s overall quality of life, he added.
