SRINAGAR : Six former legisltors and senior Congress leaders including Ghulam Mohammad Saroori from J&K have tendered their resignation from the basic membership of Congress.
The development followed Ghulam Nabi Azad’s resignation from the primary membership of Congress that has stirred a huge debate across the country about malfunctioning of the Congress and it’s internal bickerings are emerging out rapidly.
A letter of which a copy lies with Kashmir Despatch reads: “We the following legislators also former ministers of the dissolved assembly of Jammu and Kashmir here by resign from all the positions holding in the Congress party and also resign from the primary membership of the party in support of Shri Ghulam Nabi Azad, ” the letter is signed by Saroori, Haji Abdul Rashid, Mohammad Amin Bhat, Gulzar Ahmad Wani, RS Chib and Choudhary Mohammad Akram resign from the primary membership of Congress.
Sources told Kashmir Despatch that all of these former Congress legislators along with other Azad loyalists are camped in Delhi, discussing the future course of action. Of the possibilities, sources told Kashmir Despatch is that Azad with the support of his loyalists and the senior leaders from J&K may form a new political party in coming days.
A former deputy chief minister is also said to be in touch with Azad on the formation of a new political platform that can invoke a major churning in other regional parties in Jammu and Kashmir.
