Kreeri, Sep 06 ; After a week-long tussle, the two new Congress entrants in the Wagoora-Kreeri constituency have reportedly resolved their differences and expressed understanding to support each other.
Sources told Kashmir Despatch that Advocate Irfan Hafeez Lone and former PDP chief spokesperson Suhail Bukhari met last night and agreed to work together to strengthen the party in the upcoming assembly election.
According to sources, both candidates have agreed on a mutual basis and have expressed their willingness to support the decision of the party’s top leadership.
While the Congress is yet to finalize its candidate for the Wagoora seat, insiders believe that with the understanding reached between the two entrants, the name of the candidate will be announced within the next 24 hours.
Sources close to the party suggest that the mandate is leaning towards Irfan Hafeez as the chosen candidate. However, it is important to note that unexpected political developments have been witnessed in the past week, resulting in a sense of uncertainty. As the final moments before the decision draw near, anything can happen, and the current tides may shift in a different direction.
The Wagoora-Kreeri seat is witnessing a fierce contest, as the major political forces in the region, including the National Conference (NC) and the Congress Alliance, are vying for dominance. Adding to the political drama is the return of PDP leader Basharat Bukhari and the involvement of former District Development Council (DDC) chairperson Safina Beig, both of whom are major players in the political battlefield of this constituency. The presence of these key figures is making the competition even more heated, as alliances shift and strategies evolve.
