COVID-19 : 144 new fresh cases in JK

Srinagar, Aug 21 : Jammu & Kashmir reported 144 new coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours, officials said on Saturday. There was no death due to the virus during the time, they said.

47 of the cases were reported from Jammu Division and 97 from Kashmir Valley, taking the overall case tally to 324095.

They said no death reported anywhere in the J&K due to the pathogen. So far 4401 people—2161 in Jammu and 2240 in Kashmir—have succumbed to the virus.

Providing the district-wise details, they said, Srinagar reported 31 cases, Baramulla 8, Budgam 3, Pulwama 2, Kupwara 9, Anantnag 19, Bandipora 11, Ganderbal 7, Kulgam 6, Shopian 1, Jammu 13, Udhampur 0, Rajouri 6, Doda 13, Kathua 0, Samba 0, Kishtwar 10, Poonch 1, Ramban 0 and Reasi 0.

A number of these cases were confirmed at diagnostic laboratories of CD and GMC Anantnag.

The CD cases include female (48) from Namlabal Pampore, female (13) from Dalipora Pul, female (60) from Bargund Pul, male (50) from Takanwani Srg, male (30) from Brein, male (18) from New Theed Harwan, male (55) from NA, female (60) from Rajbagh Srg, female (53) from Hazratbal, male (30) from Arihal Pul and male (17) from Rajpora Pulwama.

The GMC Anantnag cases include female (39) from Ashmuqam, female (30) from Kuthair Nowgam and male (14) from Khanpora.

Moreover, the officials told GNS that 126 more COVID-19 patients have recovered—43 from Jammu Division and 83 from the valley. So far, 318535 people have recovered, leaving active cases at 1159—429 in Jammu and 730 in Kashmir.

No fresh confirmed case of mucormycosis (black fungus) was reported today, they said. So far 43 black fungus cases have been confirmed in J&K, the officials added. (GNS)
