In an initiative to promote girls activities in participation in sports, Three days Girls Volleyball Tournament was organized under Civic Action Programme by 53 BN CRPF, Baramulla from 8th August to 10th August’ 2023 in collaboration with Dept. of Sports GDC-Baramulla at Indoor Stadium GDC Baramulla (J&K).
Total 11 Girls teams from GDC Hadipora, GDC sumbal, GDC Womens Sopore, GDC Sopore, GDC Tangmarg, GDC Baramulla, Govt medical college Baramulla, GDC Womens Baramulla, Govt womens college MA road Srinagar, Glorious inferno team Baramulla and Khelo india centre team Baramulla participated in the tournament.
The Final match was played on 10/08/2023 between GDC Women college Baramulla and Khelo India centre Team Baramulla. Shri Sanjay Yadav, DIG CRPF NKOR Baramulla was the chief guest on the occasion.
Amod ashok nagpure, IPS, SSP Baramulla was the guest of honour, Hari kant singh, Commandant 177 Bn CRPF, Miss Divya D, IPS, SP/HQ Baramulla, Prof. Mohammad Farooq Rather, Principal GDC Baramulla, Sh. Parvaiz Ahmed Wani, DFO, Baramulla, Sh. Balbir Singh Raina, Chief education officer, Baramulla, Sh. Jitendra Singh Bali, Zonal Sports Officer, Baramulla and Sh. Ikchhpal Singh, Deputy Zonal sport officer were also present as Guest of Honour.
Sanjeev Kumar Sharma, Commandant-53 Bn CRPF welcomed the guests and presented memento to chief guest and other guests. Sanjeev Kumar Sharma, Commandant in his address quoted Nelson mandela who has said that – “Sports has the power to change the world. It has the power to inspire. It has the power to unite people in a way that little else does. It speaks to youth in a language they understand. Sports can create hope, where there was once despair. ” he also said that games are the best way to develop an all-round personality of students and thereby nation building.
He also hoped that activities like this will nurture the talent in local girls and some of them will come out to represent their state and nation one day.
On this occasion, Chief Guest and other Officers interacted with players of the tournament. A huge gathering of students and people arrived at Degree College Baramulla to witness the final match.
The Final match was played between Khelo India Centre team, Baramulla and GDC Girls Team, Baramulla in which GDC Baramulla emerged victorious with a final match score of 2-0. The girls volleyball tournament ended with a great fanfare as the winners and runners up and other participants were felicitated with trophies and certificates. Winner team GDC Baramulla was presented a Cash prize of Rs 11 thousand and runners up khelo india centre team Baramulla Rs 5,100 in addition to trophy, memento and certificates. Girls were very much pleased by the gesture of 53 BN CRPF and requested to organise more such games in future.
Sh. Ranjeet Kumar Singh, 2-I/C, Sh. Prem Pratap Singh, 2-I/C, Sh. S Sunil Kumar, Dy. Comdt., Sh. Naveen Jha, A/C, Sh. Manish Shukla, A/C, Sh. S. Gin Khan Mung, A/C,Sh Deepak Kumar Jalotra,A/C and Sh. Jayesh Jose A/C of 53 Bn CRPF were also present on the occasion.
