Curfew continues in Bhaderwah against man’s murder

SRINAGAR, May 17:  The Bhaderwah town observed a complete shutdown even as curfew remained enforced on the second consecutive day on Friday against the killing of a man on Thursday midnight.

According to a local news gathering agency GNS said that the curfew continued as police and paramilitary CRPF men deployed in strength in town and adjoining parts of Bhaderwah to maintain law and order.

SP Bhaderwah Raj Singh Gouria said that investigations are in the initial stage and the details will be shared as they emerge.

He said that curfew continues to remain imposed in the town and there was no report of any untoward incident. “The situation is under control,” he said.

On night of Thursday, a group of three persons were heading towards their native Mohalla Qilla area of Bhaderwah along with their cattle when they were fired upon at 2 a.m. by alleged cow vigilantes near Nalthi village, leading to the on the spot killing of Nayeem Ahmad Shah. Two of his associates managed to escape with minor injuries.

A police officer had told GNS that case under FIR no. 64/2019 under 302, 307 RPC and 3/25 and 7/27 Arms Act have been registered and investigation taken up.

Meanwhile, Imam Majid Jamia Kishtwar has called for a complete shutdown in district Kishtwar tomorrow against the killing of Nayeem Shah of Bhaderwah.
