Curtailing political space, blocking voices of dissent counterproductive: PDP leader

Date:

Srinagar, Mar 24 : Senior Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) leader and the parliament candidate from Baramullah Abdul Qayoom Wani lambasted the government for following the policy of flexing muscles.

He questioned the banning of JKLF after Jammat-e-Islami and arresting the Hurriyat leaders and summoning the leaders by NIA to New Delhi for interrogation.

In a statement issued Wani claimed that all the steps that obstruct the free voices expose the fake democratic veils that call the shots in the government.

PDP leader warned that muzzling the voices, banning socio political organisations have yielded no fruits and will be detrimental in future too. “The Political fronts, organisations and parties need to be involved in dialogue on table for a sustainable solution to the chronic political issue of Jammu Kashmir,” he said.

Wani said that the display of might and dismissal of dialogue is acting as a catalyst to push the common youth and posterity in general and the masses in particular to wall resulting further isolation. “It will act as an obnoxious impediment in the process of peace and stability in the State,” he added.

Wani advocated that the attitude of stubbornness in dealing with the core issue of Jammu Kashmir needs to be shunned and the people languishing in jails must be freed to initiate a meaningful dialogue with stakeholders to bring the state of Jammu Kashmir out of the trauma and uneasiness.
