Srinagar, 29 October, 2019: The visit of 28 member delegation of European Union, proved to be fatal, which created ripples in valley situation, with numerous incidents of protests and stone pelting incidents across the valley.
The uneasy calm that had been prevailing for last 85 days, despite the continued shutdown, was all of a sudden shattered on Tuesday, the 86th day of continued disruption of normal life, when people at many places took to the streets amid the reports of violent protests and stone pelting incidents, in which many protesters and government forces personnel were injured, while scores of cars were damaged.
While shops, business establishments and educational institutions, across the valley remained completely shut for the day, inter-district traffic also remained off the roads. In comparison to past days public transport vehicles, which were seen plying on various routes, also stayed absent from the roads.
Despite being the first day of examinations of 10th class, violent incidents rocked the length and breadth of valley. The protests of such a big magnitude were observed for the first time in 86 days, after the abrogation of Article 370 on 5th August 2019.
According to CNS, protests and stone pelting incidents were reported from across the valley, in which numerous protestors and Government forces personnel were injured.
A woman died of heart attack in Drobgam Pulwama, when CRPF personnel posted at an examination centre here were fired upon by unknown gunmen.
In capital city Srinagar, stone pelting incidents between protestors and security forces were reported from Batpora Hazratbal, Saida Kadal, Ilahi Bagh Buchpora, Knaitar, Foreshore Road, Hawal, Rainawari, Dalgate, Hbba Kadal, Krale Khud, Rambagh, Natipora, Cahnepora, Baghe Mehtab, Nowgam, and Naik Bagh. Many protestors and government forces were injured, while many vehicles were damaged by the protestors.
Stone pelting incidents were also reported from many areas of Budgam district, including district head quarter Budgam, Chadoora, Chrar-e-Sharif, Sepdan, Aaripanthan and Magam.
Amid a complete shutdown in South Kashmir, people took to streets in Yaripora Kulgam, Shopian, Pulwama and Bijbehara, while some incidents of stone pelting were also reported from these areas.
Protest and minor stone pelting incidents were also reported from some parts of District Ganderbal.
Internet and prepaid mobile services across the valley completed 86 days of disruption, while inter-district railway traffic also remained under suspension for almost three months. (CNS)
