PULWAMA, July 23:In a significant step regarding the death of a young woman from Pulwama, Deputy Commissioner Basharat Qayoom has ordered an investigation into the incident.
Earlier this morning, a young lady from Rakh Litter village of district Pulwama identified as Anisa Jan wife of Feroz Ahmad Mir died after delivering a baby girl in the district hospital (DH) Pulwama.
According to her family members, Anisa was operated on at the DH in Pulwama yesterday evening about 9 p.m, who reported that she was in good health claiming that despite being told by the doctors that the patient was in excruciating pain, they paid no attention.
They said, “The doctors assured us that her health was in good condition, but at 3 am they said she needed to be transferred to LD hospital in Srinagar. When we arrived there, the doctors told us that she was dead.”
In the meantime, the district administration in Pulwama, acting swiftly in this case, ordered a probe and established a committee that includes the Addl. District Development Commissioner Pulwama as chairman, Tehsildar Pulwama as member, Dy Superintendent of Police Headquarter Pulwama as member, Dr. Irfana Gani, BMO Pulwama, as member secretary, and Dr. Waseeqa Gynecologist, CHC Rajpora as member.
The committee is supposed to come up with a comprehensive inquiry report within 15 days positively.
“The committee shall pursue all the medical records of said deceased lady from the time of her admission till her refferal to Srinagar and consider all relevant facts to check the veracity of allegations levelled against surgeon specialist who operated upon the patient and the medical officers deputed for post-operative care in DH Pulwama” the order reads.
