Recalls his life long association with Sher-e-Kashmir
Srinagar, 20 April: The Jammu and Kashmir National Conference President Dr. Farooq Abdullah paid glowing tributes to the Ballard of the east Dr. Sir Sheikh Muhammad Iqbal on Iqbal Day observance, terming him a great poet and philosopher, who woke up the Muslims of the subcontinent and infused a new spirit and enthusiasm among them through his poetry.
In his Iqbal day message, Dr Farooq said that Allama Iqbal played a historic role in Kashmir’s struggles and offered moral and ideological support to Sher-e-Kashmir Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah in his fight against tyranny and oppression.
He said that the philosophy of Allama Iqbal was timeless and holds the solution to a plethora of social, political and economic issues of contemporary times. He said that Kashmiri youth should draw inspiration from Iqbal’s message of “Khudi” and equality to realise their full potential.
