Srinagar, Dec 01 : Jammu and Kashmir police on Tuesday claimed to have arrested a drug peddler in Awantipora area and recovered contraband substance from his possession.
As per a statement issued ,spokesman said that officers at a checkpoint established at Kawani Crossing Awantipora intercepted a person identified as Farooq Ahmad Ganie of Braw Bandina Awantipora.
“During checking, the officers were able to recover 01 Kg of Charas from his possession. He has been arrested and shifted to Police Station Awantipora where he remains in custody,” he said.
Accordingly, police said a case under FIR number 181/2020 under relevant sections of law stands registered at Police Station Awantipora and further investigation has been initiated.
“Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood. Persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law,” police said.
