Drug peddler held in Handwara: Police

Handwara : Police in the northern region of Kashmir claimed to have arrested one drug peddler in Handwara and recovered narcotics from his procession.
In a statement issued to Kashmir Despatch, police said on Wednesday a police party of Police Station Qalamabad, while on Naka duty at Shiltra crossing, apprehended one person who had attempted to evade the police party in a suspicious manner.

On search, around 25 grams of Charas-like substance was recovered from his possession. The person has been identified as Farooq Ahmad Sheikh S/o Mamdin Sheikh, R/o Malikpora.

In relation to this, FIR No. 71/2022 U/s 8/20 NDPS Act has been registered at PS Qalamabad and an investigation has been initiated the statement reads.
