EDP concludes at JK Bank RSETI Budgam

Budgam, Sep 23: An Entrepreneurship Development Programme (EDP) for unemployed youth from the rural areas District Budgam concluded here on Thursday.


The EDP was conducted for the capacity building of the 15 unemployed youth including five females registered under J&K Rural Employment Generation Programme (JKREGP) through J&K Bank Rural Self Employment Training Institute (JKB RSETI), Budgam.
During the 6-day program, the candidates were imparted training to prepare them for establishment of their own self-employment ventures and micro enterprises with the financial linkage under Jammu and Kashmir Rural Employment generation Programme.


The aspiring entrepreneurs were imparted training covering areas like soft skills in business management, entrepreneurial competencies, time management and communication skills besides general awareness about banking and various government sponsored schemes.


Expert guest faculty from JKEDI Budgam were invited for the training programme who shared their expertise and knowledge regarding entrepreneurial skills, marketing and entrepreneurship development with the aspirants.


The trained aspirants were handed over their training certificates during a simple valedictory function at JKB RSETI Budgam.


A tailoring programme for 20 women of the district is also underway at the institute wherein the candidates are learning the skills of tailoring with the aim of earning their livelihood through skill development and self-employment. The program shall conclude on September 25.

JKB RSETI Budgam is Rural Self Employment training Institute, an initiative of Ministry of Rural Development (MoRD) to impart training and skill upgradation of rural youth geared towards entrepreneurship development in the district.


RSETI Budgam was established in the year 2012 ne has conducted 135 training programmes since inception, in which 4141 people have been trained as upto March 2021.


Out of these, 79 per cent trainees are now employed or have got themselves engaged in different activities. Rest of the trainees have availed credit facility from different financial institutions after undergoing training at RSETI Budgam.
