Srinagar, Aug 29 : An encounter broke out after security forces launched a cordon and search operation in Panthachowk, area of Srinagar late this evening.
“Militants fired upon joint naka of Police & CRPF at #Panthachowk, joint parties cordoned off the area. During search in the area, #militants again fired upon search parties, leading to an #encounter”, Kashmir zone police tweeted, as per news agency.
A police officer confirmed exchange of fire stating that due to dark, firing has stopped for now.
“Lights have been installed and cordon tightened,” he said, adding two to three militants are beieived to be trapped in the area—(KNO)
