Srinagar : Government forces on Sunday morning launched a cordon and search operation in Palhallan area of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district.
Reports said that additional reinforcements of army and Special Operation Group of police have been rushed to Magrepora area of Goshbuk in Palhallan as chances of encounter between forces and militants believed to be holed up are rife.
Two local militants are believed to be trapped in the area, reports said.
Reports further said that family members where militants are believed to be hiding have been shifted to safer place and announcement have been also made to surrender.
A police official told Kashmir Despatch that search operation in the area is going on. He said that as of now no contact with militants has been established.
Earlier, army’s 29 RR and SOG Pattan have launched a cordon-and-search operation at Magrepora Goshbuk village following specific information about the presence of militants inside a residential house.
