Smt. Mahinder Pal Kour Passes Away at 82

JAMMU, Feb 23: With profound grief and sorrow, the family of Sardarni Mahinder Pal Kour, wife of Late Professor Sajan Singh, announces her peaceful passing at the age of 82 at her residence, B-119, Sainik Colony, Jammu, on February 23, 2025. She breathed her last surrounded by her family members.

The final rites will be performed on Tuesday, February 25, 2025, at 11:30 AM at Shastri Nagar Cremation Ground, Jammu. The funeral procession will depart from her residence at 11:00 AM.

A Distinguished Educator and Beloved Mentor

Smt. Mahinder Pal Kour was a distinguished alumnus of St. Joseph’s College Baramulla (now Government Degree College Baramulla) and later pursued her Post Graduation from Chandigarh University. She dedicated her life to education, serving as the Principal of Government Girls Higher Secondary School Baramulla, where she mentored and shaped the lives of many students.

She was the wife of Prof. Sajan Singh Reen, former Head of the Department of Physics at Government Degree College Baramulla, and mother of Lt. Gen. R.S. Reen, Smt. Suneeta Kour, and Smt. Sangeeta Kour. She was also the maternal aunt of Manjeet Beer Singh, former Physical Director at GDC Baramulla, and mother-in-law of Dr. Balbir Singh Raina, Smt. Satbeer Kour, and S. Satvinder Singh, all of whom are proud alumni of Government Degree College Baramulla.

The alumni of Government Degree College Baramulla have expressed their heartfelt condolences, mourning the loss of a dedicated educator and a noble soul. They have extended their deepest sympathies to the bereaved family and prayed for the departed soul to rest in eternal peace.

Meanwhile, Syed Basharat Bukhari, Editor-in-Chief of Kashmir Despatch, expressed deep grief over the demise of Smt. Mahinder Pal Kour. He extended solidarity with the bereaved family and prayed for strength to help them bear this irreparable loss.

With her passing, the education fraternity has lost a devoted mentor, and the community mourns an exceptional woman whose contributions will be remembered for generations.
