Zahid’s has become an inspiration for many

BANDIPORA, Feb 15: A young engineer who turned pandemic situation into an opportunity has become an inspiration for young people in Bandipora district who aspire to test their luck in entrepreneurship with meager resources.
The success in the business has been achieved during the COVID-19 when many like Zahid Raina (24), claimed that they had lost their jobs due to Covid pandemic.
Zahid, an engineer by profession, started manufacturing paper cups, napkins and disposable glasses a year ago and has achieved success in this venture.
Hailing from Gundpora village of North Kashmir’s Bandipora district, Zahid has done his schooling from his native village.
Talking with Kashmir Despatch, Zahid said that he had to leave his prior job during Covid-19 pandemic, following which he had a period of inactivity at home, during which he began contemplating a fresh start.
“Year after starting his venture, he has now become a job provider to the people in his vicinity. “Our unit is small and employs 15 people. In June 2020 I applied for the Prime Minister’s Employment Guarantee Program, which was approved in 2022 which gives me hope of starting my manufacturing unit,” he added.
“Paper napkins were mainly utilized by tourists however now in the current circumstance in J&K, it is being used in every household. These items are essential components of our everyday utilization and can be found in numerous locations such as transit centers, cinemas, hotels, eateries, vacation homes and dwellings,” he added.
Zahid said that the increasing demand for paper napkins will likely spur the requirement for Napkin producing machines, thus boosting the market growth rate.
He urged youth to remain actively engaged, suggesting they should strive to do something beneficial to themselves as well as their society.
Notably, the centrally sponsored government schemes had already provided an opportunity to many young unemployed youths to set up business units in different sectors in the valley.
