Ganderbal police siezes illicit timber

Ganderbal : Police in central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district on Thursday siezed a large quantity of illicit timber in the forest area of the district.

A police statement reads, acting on the directions of SSP Ganderbal Nikhil Borkar-IPS, a team of Police Station Gund led by SHO Police Station Gund Sub Inspector Abdul Rashid under the close supervision of SDPO Kangan Syed Yasir Qadri- JKPS seized (21) logs of illicit timber (illegally cut timber) from the forests of nearby Village Hilpatti Haknar Gund.

In this regard Case FIR No. 48/2021 U/S 379 IPC, 26 IF ACT has been registered at Police Station Gund and further investigation into matter is in process.

Moreover, the persons involved in this act shall be dealt strictly as per the provisions of law.

Acting tough against timber smugglers, Ganderbal Police assures that the drive against timber smugglers will continue to ensure protection of Green Gold from the plunder.
