GDC Ganderbal celebrates World Hepatitis Day

The health care committee in collaboration with NSS units of government degree college Ganderbal organized an awareness programme related to “Hepatitis B and C” to commemorate World Hepatitis Day 2024 on Saturday.

According to the organizing committee, the theme of the year is “It’s time to act” against the silent killer disease viral hepatitis and the aim of the awareness program was generation of awareness among the students and teaching and non teaching staff about the disease its causes, main modes of transmission and prevention.

During the programme, Dr. Shaheena Akhter, convener of Health care committee of the College gave an overview of World Hepatitis Day its history and importance emphasizing on the theme of year 2024.

Prof Fouzia Fatima, principal of the college encouraged the student participants to gain awareness regarding the disease and become ambassadors committing to combat the growing threat of the disease at local levels by spreading the knowledge gained through such awareness programmes.

Video presentations and case studies related to hepatitis B and C- symptoms, virus structures, modes of transmission and preventive measures were screened during the awareness event. NSS conveners- Dr. Mansha Nisar and Prof. Fayaz coordinated the event while students, NSS volunteers and several faculty members attended the programme.
