GDC Ganderbal Organizes Seminar on “Role of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar in Nation Building and Constitutional Development”

Ganderbal, April 10, 2025:
The NSS Unit of Government Degree College (GDC), Ganderbal, organized a one-day seminar on the
theme “Role of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar in Nation Building and Constitutional Development” to commemorate the birth anniversary of the architect of the Indian Constitution, Dr. Bhimrao Ramji
Ambedkar.

The event was held under the patronage of Prof. (Dr.) Fouzia Fatima, Principal of the college, who also graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. In her presidential address, Prof. Fouzia Fatima highlighted the immense contributions of Dr. Ambedkar towards the upliftment of the downtrodden sections of
society.

She praised his visionary leadership in laying the foundations of a democratic, inclusive, and
just India through the Constitution.

The seminar commenced with a warm welcome and opening remarks by Dr. Jamsheeda Akhter,
Head of the Department of Urdu and NSS Programme Officer-I, who served as the moderator of the
event. In her address, she paid rich tributes to Dr. Ambedkar and highlighted his invaluable
contributions as a social reformer, jurist, and principal architect of the Indian Constitution. She
emphasized how Dr. Ambedkar’s vision laid the foundation for an inclusive, democratic, and just
society.

The highlight of the seminar was the thought-provoking and insightful lecture delivered by Prof. (Dr.) Gull Mohammad Wani, renowned academician and guest speaker. Dr. Wani engaged the audience
with a detailed exposition of Dr. Ambedkar’s enduring legacy in constitutionalism, democratic governance, and social reform. He urged the students and faculty to draw inspiration from Dr.
Ambedkar’s life and work in their pursuit of academic excellence and civic responsibility.

The seminar witnessed active participation from faculty members, NSS volunteers, and students who paid tribute to the life and work of Dr. Ambedkar through their presence and enthusiastic engagement.

The event concluded with a formal vote of thanks delivered by Dr. Mansha Nisar, NSS Programme
Officer-II, who expressed gratitude to the dignitaries, faculty members, students, and all participants
for making the seminar a success.

The seminar served as a meaningful platform to revisit the enduring relevance of Dr. Ambedkar’s ideas and to inspire young minds to carry forward his legacy of justice, equality, and constitutional
morality.
