Despite being a hot spot of economic activity , the successive government’s since 2015 have been adopting pick and chose approach in ensuring basic civil amenities to the people of this remote region. The situation with regards to development in Chenab region has worsened after the decisions of August, 5 , 2019. lack of basic and effective amenities in the region deflates the tall claims of incumbent administration on equitable development. The region lacks in education, health, road infrastructure. Nothing substantial is been done to give impetus to the development prospects of the region,”he said.

Most of our educated and skilled youth used to eye for jobs in the local government projects but the post abrogation scenario which marked the flight of local jobs to outsiders chocked what little employment opportunities our youth had, he added. “Today the number of job scavenging youth in Chenab region have increased exponentially. Doors of employment opportunities for youth are being closed systematically by outsourcing engineers, and labourers in local hydro, and road projects.
