Srinagar, Jan 14: Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah reaffirmed the government’s commitment to the welfare of armed forces veterans during the Armed Forces Veterans Day event in Akhnoor.
Speaking at the event, which was also attended by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, Omar Abdullah paid tribute to the sacrifices and contributions of the armed forces. He assured the veterans and their families that the government would continue to prioritize their needs.
“You have given your lives to the nation; you have taken care of this country. It is our duty to work for you and your families whenever there is a problem for you,” Omar Abdullah stated, according to news agency KINS.
He emphasized the pivotal role the armed forces play in ensuring national security and progress, saying, “It is because of you that we are excelling. I assure you that the government will work for you. Recruitment, financial schemes—our administration will support you in every way possible.”
The Chief Minister also highlighted the inclusiveness of his cabinet, mentioning that a minister from an army family would help address veterans’ concerns with a deeper understanding of their needs. “In my cabinet, there is a minister who comes from an army family. We will work with that understanding and perspective to address your concerns,” he added.
Veterans were also recognized for their ongoing contributions to society after their service, with Omar Abdullah praising their invaluable support. “Your help is our duty, and we will do everything to fulfill it,” he assured.
The event, marked by moments of remembrance and camaraderie, celebrated the dedication and sacrifices of the armed forces.
