Govt launches online RTI Portal in J&K, ‘set to be fully operational by Dec 10’

Date:

Srinagar, Nov 27 : The Government of Jammu and Kashmir has announced the launch of an online Right to Information (RTI) portal, developed by the National Informatics Centre (NIC).

The new platform, accessible at rtionline.jk.gov.in, is set to streamline the RTI process across the Union Territory.

The portal will facilitate electronic submission of RTI requests, enable citizens to track their applications, and receive responses online, eliminating the need for physical visits to government offices.

The initiative, part of the administration’s efforts to enhance transparency and accountability, is expected to be fully operational by December 10, 2024.

To ensure smooth implementation, nodal officers have been appointed at various administrative levels, including department, district, and directorate levels. These officers will oversee the onboarding of Central Public Information Officers (CPIOs) and First Appellate Authorities (FAAs) onto the portal by November 29, 2024. Meanwhile, district-level officers have been instructed to provide necessary details to the General Administration Department to ensure comprehensive coverage.

This move is expected to significantly enhance the efficiency of RTI application processing, contributing to a more transparent and citizen-friendly governance model in Jammu and Kashmir.

The circular, issued under Circular No. 28-JK(GAD) of 2024, dated 26.11.2024 also calls for compliance by all nodal officers to meet the stipulated deadlines and ensure the success of the initiative.(KINS)
