Srinagar, Jul 25 : In a bid to boost connectivity between the tourist destinations in Kashmir, the administration is mulling to connect famous Dodhpathri resort with Gulmarg through a proper road.
Sources privy to the development in the administration told news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that to scale up the road connectivity between the two tourist destinations, the administration is contemplating to connect Dodhpathri with Gulmarg via Drang.
“The project is under consideration and there are discussions to develop a road connectivity between Dodhapathri and Gulmarg, it is premature to say more on it, other than contemplations there is no such development”, the official said.
The official said that the upgradation work for the Bangus Valley road connectivity is underway and that all the tourist destinations of the valley are connected with the roads and are well ahead of the timeline for resurfacing and required repairs.
“Roads leading to the tourist destinations in the valley are fully resurfaced and intact with required safety protocols like reflectors or grade separator indicators. Not just the road resurfacing but the road safety protocols too are being taken very seriously”, the official added.
The senior official also added that so far they have resurfaced, and repaired more than 60 percent of the roads in the valley and that they too have more than 400 projects underway either for fresh roads or upgradation.
Meanwhile, people from several parts of the valley have been calling for the blacktopping, and upgradation of their roads, claiming that they experience difficulties in both dry and wet weather.
The officials, however, stated that Srinagar has a road stretch of around 1758 KM of which 1394 KM is being looked up by the Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC) and that the remaining road stretch is taken care of by the R&B department—(KNO)
