NEW DELHI, Nov 19: Gati Shakti Vishwavidyalaya (GSV), a pioneering institution in transportation and logistics education, held its inaugural Court meeting today at Rail Bhawan, New Delhi. The meeting, chaired by Union Minister for Railways, Information & Broadcasting, and Electronics & Information Technology, Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw, highlighted GSV’s ambition to become a global leader in industry-driven and employability-focused education.
The institution, established in December 2022 as a Central University under the Ministry of Railways, aims to cater to the growing demand for skilled professionals in sectors such as railways, aviation, marine engineering, highways, shipping, logistics, and defense. Shri Vaishnaw emphasized the university’s alignment with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of creating world-class educational institutions.
“All newly-recruited Indian Railway Management Service (IRMS) officers will undergo probationary training at GSV. This will combine theoretical and practical training with an MBA degree, equipping them for diverse challenges across the transportation sector,” the minister stated. Plans are also underway to introduce specialized programs in bridge and tunnel engineering, aviation operations, maritime infrastructure, highway engineering, and defense logistics.

Prof. Manoj Choudhary, the founding Vice-Chancellor of GSV, presented a detailed progress report on the university’s achievements since its inception. The Court members praised GSV’s rapid development, particularly its innovation-driven and industry-aligned curriculum.
The members also proposed collaborations in areas like artificial intelligence, green hydrogen, ports modernization, and defense logistics. Suggestions were made to position GSV as a nodal institution for affiliating national academies in infrastructure sectors and managing large-scale infrastructure projects.
Annual reports and accounts for the university were approved for presentation to Parliament, further underscoring its commitment to transparency and excellence.
