Gulmarg, Jan 3: Once again, Asia’s highest aerial tramway, the Gulmarg Gondola, has proven to be a big hit, with nearly 1 million tourists opting for rides in less than a year.

A top official at the Jammu and Kashmir Cable Car Corporation (JKCCC) informed Kashmir Despatch that 971,765 people enjoyed the rides until December 24, with an average of 995,800 expected by the end of December.

He noted that in just the last two months alone, more than 152,000 tourists experienced the ride.

The official mentioned that both January and February 2025 are fully booked in advance, and he anticipates a record-breaking number of visitors again by the end of the financial year.

Furthermore, he stated that the corporation has enhanced the tourist experience by improving the ticket issuing system, conducting safety tests, and overhauling the second phase with the latest technology.

This commitment to providing easy, hassle-free, and safe rides has significantly contributed to heightened satisfaction among tourists flocking to this iconic attraction, he added.

Pertinently, last year the Gulmarg Gondola soared to new heights! For the first time ever, more than 1 million tourists took the Gulmarg Gondola Cable Car ride in FY 2023-24, and the revenue exceeded 110 crores.

Gulmarg Gondola is the flagship attraction of Kashmir tourism. It is possibly India’s most popular ropeway, and at a height of 14,000 ft, it is Asia’s highest operating cable car.
