Gunfight rages in Budgam village

Srinagar : A gunfight broke out between government forces and militants in Dunwora Waytora village of central Kashmir’s Budgam district on Wednesday evening.

A senior police official told Kashmir Despatch after receiving specific information about presence of militants in the area a joint team of Army, J&K police’s SOG and CRPF launched a cordon and search operation.

However, as the joint team of forces zeroed-in on a house where militants are believed to be trapped, the militants fired upon the forces’ team, triggering the gunfight. He said the entire area has been cordoned and all exit routes in the area have been sealed.
