Demands release of funds for beneficiaries

SOPORE: Demanding release of funds for beneficiaries under House scheme for all, President Javeed Bhat on Friday started his day long hunger strike at Iqbal Market Sopore.


Several beneficiaries under House for all scheme has over the past month alleged that government has yet to release funds to them. The beneficiaries alleged that due to release of funds, they are yet to avail the scheme.


Talking to Kashmir Despatch, Javeed Bhat said that our demands are genuine, beneficiaries are yet to receive funds and they cannot avail the scheme. It is nothing but a sheer injustice to people of Sopore and today by doing a hunger strike, we are supporting those people who have been struggling for past several years”.


He added that this hunger strike should be an eye opener for administration who are paying no heeds to the demands of benefacaries under House for all scheme.


Meanwhile, sources said several other activists will join the protest. Sources said that social activist Tanveer Fatima and Fisheries President Farooq Ahmad will join the protest to demand the justice to the beneficiaries.


It is pertinent to mention here that last month, the beneficiaries under Housing Scheme for all staged protest in Sopore stating that despite the passage of three years government has failed to keep their promise as they are yet to avail the scheme.


The people has marched towards Municipal Council Sopore and demanded answers from the authorities.
President MC Sopore when asked about the issues had said that he cannot do anything as matter lies with the concerned department. “I have the list, but it is the department, that has to take final call”, he had said.
