“If India sincere, ready for peace”: Imran Khan on ‘Kashmir Solidarity Day’

Date:

Prime Minister of Pakistan, Imran Khan said on Friday that Islamabad is ready to take “two steps forward” for peace if India shows sincerity in seeking a solution to the Kashmir issue.

Khan made the comments on Twitter as Pakistan observed its annual Kashmir Solidarity Day.

“If India demonstrates sincerity in seeking a just solution to the Kashmir issue, in accordance with UNSC resolutions, we are ready to take two steps forward for peace. But let no one mistake our desire for stability & peace as a sign of weakness,” Khan tweeted.

Khan said Pakistan was “prepared to go the extra mile” to ensure “just peace” that fulfills the “legitimate aspirations” of the Kashmiri people.

Khan reiterated that Pakistan was standing “united and resolute” with the Kashmiris in “their legitimate struggle for self-determination”.

“Over seven decades of Indian occupation and oppression have failed to weaken the Kashmiri people’s resolve to struggle for their right to self-determination. Now, a younger generation of Kashmiris is taking the struggle forward with even greater resolve,” Khan said.
