Srinagar, May 06 : Inspector General of Police V K Birdi on Monday reviewed the poll preparedness and overall security scenario in the South Kashmir districts of Shopian, Pulwama, and Awantipora.
An official told News Agency Kashmir Scroll that the visit was aimed at ensuring the peaceful conduct of upcoming elections in the region.
During the visit, the IGP held a series of meetings with the district police and CAPF officers to discuss various arrangements, including the deployment of security forces, electoral infrastructure at polling booths, and security for contesting candidates. The discussions focused on strengthening coordination between different security agencies and taking proactive measures to prevent any disruptions by anti-national elements.
The IGP emphasized the importance of close coordination and the need for robust security arrangements to safeguard the democratic process and the safety of all stakeholders. He was briefed on the comprehensive deployment plans and the strategies devised by the local authorities to ensure a secure and peaceful election environment.
