Iltija relieved over resolution passed by EUP against CAB, lockdown in Kashmir

Date:

Says GOIs actions frittering away India’s assiduously earned soft power

Srinagar, Jan 27 : Iltija Mufti, the daughter of incarcerated former chief minister of Jammu and Kashmir Mehbooba Mufti Monday said that Government of India’s actions are “frittering away all of India’s assiduously earned soft power.”

According to the wire service—Iltija in a tweet said that the repressive measures in Kashmir and recently implemented Citizenship Amendment Bill (CAB) are India’s internal matter only when European Parliamentarians or international community condemn such actions.

“Discriminatory CAB & repressive measures in Kashmir are India’s internal matter only when EU Parliamentarians/ international community condemn such actions. Had they spoken about it in glowing terms, the same establishment would lap it up,” she wrote in a tweet.

She further stated that she was relieved to see that the group of EU parliamentarians who visited Kashmir recently has passed resolutions against CAB and lockdown in Kashmir.

“Relieved to see EU parliament pass resolutions against communal CAB & brutal lockdown in Kashmir. Hope it’s followed up with sanctions. GOIs actions are frittering away all of India’s assiduously earned soft power,” Iltija wrote.

Pertinently, Itlija is currently using the twitter handle of her mother, Mehbooba Mufti, who is undergoing detention since August 5 along with other mainstream leaders from Kashmir including the two other former chief ministers—Dr. Farooq Abdullah and Omar Abdullah.

The leaders were put under detention on August 5, when the central government abrogated the special status of Jammu and Kashmir (Article 370) and bifurcated the erstwhile State into two Union Territories.
