SRINAGAR, Feb 25: In response to the complaint filed by a parent whose wards are currently studying at Iqbal Memorial Institute (Boys Wing) in Bemina-Srinagar, the office of Chief Education Officer Srinagar has served a notice to the principal of the institution directing him to be present at the Education Office on 26th February 2022.
The summon dispatched on 24th February, vide no.: CEO/Sgr/IMW/1542-46, a copy of which is in possession of Kashmir Despatch reads that the school management had allegedly harassed the children of the complainant thus forcing him to approach the office of Chief Education Officer.
In this context the principal of the school has been asked to be present at the said office at 11:30 am along with the requisite school records including Fee Fixation & Regulation Committee approval from 2017 & onwards and other relevant documents.
While speaking to the Kashmir Despatch, the complainant leveled allegations against the institution for mismanagement besides accusing them of introducing exorbitant fee hikes & unnecessary charges.
Reliable sources in the Education department revealed that the school has been critiqued by parents & guardians at numerous similar instances while complaining about the selective cherry-picking modus operandi adopted by the management during the admission process.
Speaking with Kashmir Despatch, the parents who chose to remain anonymous said the institution is being run under the aegis of a welfare trust but the fee structure is equivalent to other private operated schools.
“I don’t understand, the institution receives funds & donations from various corners in order to impart quality education among those who can’t afford to go to high class private schools, however, the fee structure is appallingly at par with them. This is a simple fraud where they deceive the people & their donors as well. The government must take action against such institutions in the valley,” a parent expressed.
Moreover, the Kashmir Despatch contacted the Chairman of the Iqbal Memorial Trust Dr. Yusuf-ul-Omar who said the such charges are absolutely false and the complainant has often misbehaved with the school staff & management.
“This institute has been a beacon of imparting quality education in the Valley while some people with malicious & vested interests often try to malign its image. However, such lies get blatantly exposed later on. I invite you or anyone else to see how our management & staff works diligently in helping the students to excel in their lives. Besides, our institute is having all the necessary documents that are mandatory as per the government norms,” he said.
