Srinagar, Jan 23 : West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said on Saturday that Delhi should not be just one capital of India, but there should be four capitals in all the four corners of the country where parliament sessions should be held in turn.
While addressing the rally in Kolkata on the 125th birth anniversary of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose, Mamta Banerjee said that “there was a time when Kolkata was the capital of India.” So why can Kolkata not be declared as the second capital of this country once again.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has also reached Kolkata on Saturday. However, this comment of Mamta Banerjee was made before Modi reached Kolkata.
Mamta Banerjee said, “A capital should be in the South Indian states of Tamil Nadu, Karnataka or Kerala.” The second capital should be in Uttar Pradesh, Punjab or Rajasthan. The third capital can be in Bihar, Odisha or Kolkata while the fourth capital should be in the northeastern state.
