To ensure smooth travel for passengers during the Kumbh Mela, which commenced on January 13, 2025, Indian Railways has been operating special Kumbh Mela trains in addition to regular train services.
The Firozpur Division of Northern Railway has been running 14 special Kumbh trains for the convenience of pilgrims. The last of these special trains will depart from Firozpur Cantt Railway Station on February 22 and from Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra Railway Station on February 23. So far, around 8,100 passengers have traveled on these special trains, including:
• 200 passengers from Firozpur Cantt
• 2,800 passengers from Amritsar
• 5,100 passengers from Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra
Additionally, around 48,500 passengers have traveled on regular trains heading to the Kumbh Mela. To accommodate the increased passenger load, an extra coach was added to trains 18310, 18102, and 22432, which benefited over 300 additional passengers.
To ensure a safe and comfortable journey for passengers, senior officials of the division are conducting regular reviews. All senior subordinate officers at originating railway stations have been instructed to manage crowd control effectively and ensure smooth boarding for all passengers. Information about these special trains is being displayed on digital boards at originating and intermediate stations, and continuous announcements are being made via the public address system.
Indian Railways remains committed to providing convenient travel facilities for passengers at all times.
