Javed Dar Reaffirms Govt’s Support for Youth Empowerment at SGSD International School Function

JAMMU, Jan 31: Minister for Agricultural Production, Rural Development, Panchayati Raj, Cooperative, and Election Departments, Javed Ahmad Dar, has reaffirmed the government’s commitment to supporting institutions that channelize youth energy towards productive and positive avenues. Addressing the annual function of SGSD International School at Baba Jitto Auditorium, SKUAST-J, Dar lauded the role of educational institutions in nurturing young minds and preparing them for future leadership roles.

Pertinently, Dar has long been a strong proponent of youth development through education and skill-building initiatives. Known for his dynamic approach to governance, he has played a crucial role in promoting rural development, cooperative movements, and agricultural reforms. His emphasis on education as a tool for societal transformation was evident in his address, where he highlighted the importance of schools like SGSD International School in shaping responsible citizens.

Speaking at the event, Javed Dar praised SGSD International School for its unwavering commitment to quality education, extracurricular excellence, and character building. Dar also expressed concern over the rising drug abuse among youth, emphasizing the critical role of schools, parents, and teachers in preventing this menace. He called for collective efforts between the government and educational institutions to raise awareness and implement preventive measures.

Sakeena Itoo Stresses Role of Schools in Preventing Drug Abuse
Minister for Health and Medical Education, Social Welfare, and Education, Sakeena Itoo, who was the chief guest at the event, echoed similar sentiments on the role of schools in tackling drug abuse and shaping young minds. She reaffirmed the government’s commitment to strengthening education and healthcare sectors under the leadership of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah.

Itoo urged parents and teachers to cooperate with government agencies in tackling the growing drug abuse problem among the younger generation. She also praised the students of SGSD International School for their exceptional talent in academics and extracurricular activities, underscoring the importance of well-rounded education in achieving future career aspirations.

“Our focus should not only be on building schools but ensuring that they truly function as centers of excellence that inspire young minds,” she remarked.
