J&K Industries Still Await ‘The Revolution’

Date:

The majority section of the common industrialists in J&K suggest others not to opt for starting up their own enterprises due to the bad experience they have got when investing into this important sector. While the industries are an important part of the state economies in the rest of the country, J&K has always been an exception.

The problem lies in the unavailability of basic infrastructure that compliments the industrail works throughout the year. The harsh summers in Jammu and chilly winters in Kashmir often impede with the efficiency of the industrial production.

However, these factors should have hardly affected the working of industries especially in the twentieth century when even coldest country like Siberia runs its factories.

Another impediment is the odd choices with regards to the type of industry that is being set-up. Most of the industries especially in Kashmir division require raw material that needs to be imported from other states. It influences the speed of work and even the cost of production.

This is one of the prime reasons that many companies who were awarded with the work for erection of the steel tubular poles under DDUGJY across North Kashmir choose to buy the poles from Kolkata rather than Kashmir. The cost difference was clossal.

Therefore, it is imperative that while choosing to setup an industry in J&K comprehensive table work is highly recommended.

Furthermore, the government policies and schemes need to encourage the budding and existing industrialist who even during political turmoils have kept the hopes high. The framing up of new schemes must be done in accordance with the aspirations of the persons belonging to this section.

After the pandemic, the situation of the industrialist and SSI unit owners has become extremely grim. The government must come to their rescue and provide the necessary aid in order to take our economy back on the track.

This will eventually bolster the commencement of much awaited ‘Industrial Revolution’ which preceding successive governments have outrightly ignored for decades.
