SRINAGAR, Oct 31: The foundation day of the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir was marked with a vibrant event at the Sher-e-Kashmir International Convention Centre (SKICC) in Srinagar today. The occasion saw the attendance of Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha as the chief guest, along with prominent officials, dignitaries, and community leaders.
The event commenced with opening remarks from Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, who emphasized the journey of Jammu and Kashmir as a Union Territory and highlighted the developmental strides made in recent years. Addressing the audience, he acknowledged the efforts of the administration and the people in transforming the region into a hub of growth, stability, and opportunity.
Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, in his address, praised the resilience and spirit of the people of Jammu and Kashmir. He underscored the significance of the foundation day, stating that it not only commemorates the region’s administrative transformation but also symbolizes the vision of a peaceful, progressive, and inclusive Jammu and Kashmir. The LG further noted key milestones achieved over the past few years, including infrastructure development, healthcare advancements, and the administration’s commitment to strengthening grassroots democracy.
“As we celebrate this foundation day, we also renew our commitment to bring prosperity to every corner of Jammu and Kashmir,” Sinha said, reiterating the administration’s focus on youth empowerment, education, and employment generation.
The event included cultural performances showcasing the rich heritage of Jammu and Kashmir, alongside a display of achievements across sectors.
