Govt. must take immediate security review of political activists: Rafi Ahmad Mir

SRINAGAR, August 9:   Jammu and Kashmir Apni Party (JKAP) senior leader and former legislator Rafi Ahmad Mir on Sunday condemned the attack on Abdul Hamid Najar, a BJP worker in Budgam district.

In a statement issued here, Mir urged the Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha to take an immediate review of the security situation especially the requirements of political workers irrespective of their affiliations.

“Today’s attack is again a grim reminder for the J&K government to take concrete measures for safety and security of the political workers who put their lives at risk for strengthening of democratic process in this part of the world. Security of their lives should be of paramount importance and priority for any dispensation which is at the helm of affairs,” he remarked.

He also condemned the forces inimical to peace who are attacking the unarmed people in J&K just because they believe in some idea contrary to the ideology of violence. “JKAP has time and again reiterated that violence in any of its shapes is not going to achieve anything and the same is bound to prove detrimental to the interests of people of J&K,” he said, while praying for speedy recovery of the injured BJP activist.
